Call for papers: Les Doctoriales en Sciences Sociales de l’Eau – 7th edition
Every 18 to 24 months, the Doctoriales en Sciences Sociales de l’Eau (DSSE) aims to bring together and unite the French-speaking community of young researchers working on water issues in the humanities and social sciences (geography, ethnology, history, anthropology, sociology, economics, psychology, political science, law, etc.). The event includes plenary lectures by guest speakers, parallel sessions featuring presentations by doctoral students and field trips.
The aim of this forum for exchanges and meetings between young researchers and senior researchers is to provide an overview of recent or ongoing work and to create a network of young researchers on the issue of ‘Water and Society’, covering a wide range of approaches, issues and international contexts.
The event, which brings together between 80 and 100 participants, extends well beyond France, with recurring entries from French-speaking researchers from Canada, the United States, Belgium, Switzerland, Africa, Haiti and India, or those working in these geographical areas. Each time, it is hosted by a new metropolitan university site (Strasbourg 2014, Montpellier 2016, Nanterre 2017, Lyon 2019, Châteauroux 2021, Rennes 2023), to encourage the emergence and consolidation of a wider thematic community.
This 7th edition, organised jointly by the research centres of the Université de Bordeaux, the Université Bordeaux Montaigne and INRAE, will take place in December 2024 in Bordeaux.
This event is largely open to first-year doctoral students, who will have an opportunity to present their initial hypotheses, exploratory avenues and future work programme.
If young researchers so wish, their presentations may be published in a special issue of the journal Sciences Eaux&Territoires (SET) at the end of the Doctoriales.
