Your work: Your work: I am a research fellow at the French Research Institute for Sustainable Development (IRD), affiliated with the Center for Population and Development Studies (CEPED). As a sociologist of science and lawyer, my research focuses on discussions around models of R&D and manufacturing of vaccines and other health products (diagnostics, phage therapy) in a more fair and equitable manner. My research focuses on countries in the Global South (particularly vaccine production in Brazil, Colombia, and India) and the production of phage therapy in hospitals in Europe.
I have just created, with Anne Pollock of King’s College London, the PharmaGHaSTS network—Critical Social Science of Pharmaceuticals at the Intersection of Global Health and Science, Technology, and Society. This is a research network bringing together critical social science researchers who study pharmaceutical products and related technologies, including diagnostic tools and vaccines, at the intersection of global health and Science, Technology and Society (STS). We are interested in both understanding the shortcomings of the current system, which fails to meet the needs of the majority of the world’s population, and exploring alternative models of pharmaceutical research, development, and manufacturing that can promote equity and justice in health.
With the support of a seed fund partnership between Paris-Cité University and King’s College London, the network draws on existing expertise in the fields of global health and STS.
Network launch conference:
Rethinking pharmaceutical production in the Global South and North: launch symposium for the PharmaGHaSTS network (Université Paris Cité and King’s College London)

March 12 will mark the launch of the PharmaGHaSTS project. This research network brings together critical social science researchers who study pharmaceutical products and related technologies, including diagnostic tools and vaccines, at the intersection of global health and science, technology, and society (STS).
At the opening conference, we will offer an interdisciplinary and cross-sectoral dialogue on pharmaceutical production based on two alternative models: public vaccine production in Brazil and the collective project of producing medicines as common goods in France.
